Sports Medicine and Lameness
A thorough evaluation of general health and soundness is recommended before the purchase of your next equine partner. There is a financial and emotional investment required when adding a new horse. At Premier Equine we work with you every step of the way. A pre-purchase exam involves a head to tail exam paying close attention to the circulatory, respiratory, musculoskeletal and neurological systems. Depending on the intended use of your new partner, will determine if further diagnostics are recommended such as bloodwork, ultrasound or radiographs.
Soundness and Performance Exams
Soundness and performance exams are essential for your equine athlete and companion. When horse’s are feeling their best they can perform at their best. At Premier Equine we offer lameness exams, pre-purchase exams, as well as performance exams. Regular performance exams are recommended every 4-6 months as our equine athletes are susceptible to degenerative joint stress due to high intensity training and showing. Our goal is to detect performance-limiting conditions before they produce a lameness. Our lameness and performance exams are detail oriented to identify causes of performance issues. There are many diagnostics and treatment options appropriate for a given issue, and at Premier Equine our goal is to find the best option for your horse, whether that be integrative care, joint injections, regenerative therapy or referral for further diagnostics.
